Why it matters for your company

Some commercial policies exclude claims arising from controlled items or from export violations, and some insurers decline controlled work altogether (specialty broker's deep tech page, accessed 2026-09-12). If a program touches controlled technology, say so on the application, because an exclusion discovered after a claim is worse than a narrower policy chosen on purpose.
