Inland marine

Property insurance for equipment that moves: in transit, at job sites, on pilots and demos. For a robotics company it is the line that follows the machines once they leave the building.

Why it matters for your company

The name comes from cargo insurance, and the idea is the same. A commercial property policy covers contents at your own locations. An inland marine policy follows scheduled items wherever they are, which is how a robot fleet actually operates.

Each unit is usually listed with a value, and the form states whether it pays replacement cost or actual cash value. Read the transit, theft and mysterious disappearance wording, and check whether a unit left on a customer site is still covered when nobody from your team is there.

This page describes coverage in general terms. It is not an offer of insurance, and carrier appetite, policy wording, licensing, and availability govern every quote and every claim.
