Why it matters for your company
Part 107 governs remote pilot certificates, visual line of sight, altitude, operations over people and at night, and the waiver process for anything outside those limits (14 CFR Part 107, accessed 2026-09-12).
Insurance comes in through the customer, the venue or the municipality instead. Underwriters read the Part 107 details closely, because the operating limits and waivers a company holds describe the risk the policy is being asked to take.

- Hull coveragePhysical damage insurance on an aircraft itself, including a drone and often its payload and ground equipment. It is the aviation equivalent of equipment coverage.
- Aircraft exclusionThe clause in a standard general liability policy that removes injury or damage arising from owning, operating or entrusting an aircraft. Drones fall inside it unless the policy says otherwise.
